Pediatric Speech-Language Therapy
I am dedicated to supporting children with a wide range of communication disorders, ensuring that each child's unique needs are met. I offer comprehensive evaluations, individualized treatment, and consultation in the following areas and more:
Articulation
is all about how your child pronounces sounds and words. It's the way they use their mouth, lips, and tongue to make clear and understandable speech.
Receptive Language
is how your child understands and "receives" what is said to them. This includes following instructions, understand stories, and grasp the meaning of words and sentences.
Phonology
are the rules and patterns of sounds in our language. It's not about how your child says specific sounds, but how they use and organize them in words and sentences.
Expressive Language
is how your child shares their thoughts and ideas. This includes using words, sentences, and gestures to communicate.
Pragmatics
is the social aspects of language use including turn taking, understanding social and nonverbal cues, conversational skills, and appropriate language.
Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC)
it can come in different forms including pictures, symbols, or even special devices or apps to assist in language building and having access to language.
Literacy
is the ability to understand what is read, knowing letters, words, and rules of writing to express their thoughts and ideas on paper, and early developing literacy skills that help your child become a great reader and writer.
Fluency
encompasses the seamless flow, pace, and ease of producing speech. This includes the uninterrupted progression of sounds, syllables, words, and phrases.
Feeding
refers to safe, adequate, and nutritional diet needs including accepting a variety of food types, chewing, drinking, and establishing typical, effective feeding patterns and behaviors.
Oral Motor
are the muscles of the mouth which are essential for feeding skills, including the cheeks, mouth, tongue, jaw, and lips.
